When you work in the medical field, it is important to remain abreast of the latest discoveries and data that are available. New surgical and research findings are the building blocks which may help another researcher. For Dr. Susan Lim of Singapore, learning is a daily process through new clinical encounters, as well as medical seminars. Even the first doctor to perform a liver transplant in Asia knows that there is more to learn and to accomplish. As a result, Dr. Susan Lim has continued to participate in global postgraduate courses to further her understanding.
Breast Cancer and Molecular Oncology - Dr. Susan Lim
The Practice of Surgery is not the only focus for Dr. Susan Lim in Singapore. In April of 2010, she traveled to Las Vegas, USA to attend the American Society of Breast Surgeons 11th Annual Meeting and enrolled in a course on Molecular Oncology for the Practising Surgeon. The current treatment of breast cancer has evolved from standard chemotherapy to the more specific targeting of the different molecular subtypes of breast cancer. Dr Susan Lim has embraced this new aspect of molecular oncology to help her patients access the best in oncology care in Singapore.
Dr. Susan Lim - Surgery Robotics Training
In April of 2003, when much of Asia was paralysed by SARS, and surgery workload in hospitals in Singapore declined, Dr. Susan Lim traveled to Santa Barbara, California to attend a training course in robotic surgery. These classes helped Dr Lim to acquire new skills in surgical robotics in order to perform minimally invasive surgeries with increased accuracy. Dr. Susan Lim also attended the robotic training course at the Intuitive Surgical Headquarters in Sunnyvale, California the following year, as well as several other post-graduate surgical courses, and plans to continue to grow in knowledge and technical experience.
